We founded Clavis Education to guide promising young people towards their ambitions by helping them discover who they are.
Our Story
We have done what many students aspire to do: we found our interest, we got the grades, we got the offer to our dream university, we got the degree. We know first hand how hard, stressful and disorienting that journey can feel.
We also know how valuable honest, professional guidance can be to a student, and how much stress, anxiety and confusion it can alleviate.
Too many students do not live up to their potential, not for a lack of ability but for a lack of the experience, preparation and skill that would allow them to clearly demonstrate it. It is a tremendous loss when someone with clear potential falters simply because they did not know what was expected of them.
In a similar vein, too many students do achieve their goals, only to discover that those were never their goals at all. The disappointment can be greater still. That is why we put such emphasis on helping our students understand themselves, their interests and their ambitions, so they can be certain they are on the path that is theirs.
The industry is full of false promises, ‘secret’ techniques and standardised, impersonal advice. In short, it is full of subterfuge.
Instead of nurturing what makes a young person great, ‘consultants’ try to mould the students who trust them into manufactured, disingenuous versions of themselves. The results are disappointing and sometimes heart-breaking: outcomes that fall short of a student’s potential, and the feeling that who they are is not good enough.
We categorically reject these approaches. Every student is an individual, worthy of being guided towards the best version of themselves, not of someone else.
This is why we started Clavis Education: to guide promising young people towards their dreams and ambitions by becoming the best version of their unique selves. To help them discover who they are. To help them realise their potential.
Our Philosophy
Self-discovery is the cornerstone of our philosophy. We believe that sustainable, long-term success comes from unearthing, amplifying and growing one’s interests in the intellectual sphere.
It is not by fitting into a mould someone else created that we get where we want to go. It is the opposite: by developing ourselves we become the person who is a natural fit for the places we want to reach, be it Cambridge, Oxford, the Ivy League or any of a myriad other destinations.
This is why we prioritise identifying and deepening a student’s interests, whether they join us for Early Development programmes or at later stages, including University Admissions.
Working with us does not guarantee success or a place at any university, and unlike many of our competitors we will not pretend otherwise. Instead we tell you the truth: there is no ‘secret’ to achieving your ambitions other than a great deal of effort, intellectual curiosity and professional guidance. Those who say otherwise are deceiving themselves and you.
Our promise is to mentor our students on their path of self-discovery: to help them find their true interests, to nourish and grow them, and to aid them in finding a path towards their ambitions. We will be there every single step of the way.
How We Are Different
We focus on the individual, their needs and their interests. The outcomes flow as a consequence of hard work, intellectual curiosity and professional guidance, not the other way around.
Unlike many of the big players in the education industry, we prioritise the individual rather than chasing admissions statistics. We do not offer services a student does not need, only what will grow their intellectual ability, alleviate their anxiety and help them discover who they are.
We do not offer standardised, robotic advice. Instead we provide entirely individualised tuition, and we are flexible: the student’s needs and constraints determine the services we offer, not our internal sales targets.
We are human, not a corporate machine. You will never speak to a salesperson, because we have none. The only people you will talk to are the Consultants and Specialists you will work with.
You were an outstanding mentor to our son over several years. In that time, he made significant progress in understanding his own interests and became far more engaged, both in his studies and beyond them. A special thank you for your support through the application process.
