Barbara

Barbara is a social scientist with unusually broad training. Human, Social and Political Sciences gave her grounding across politics, sociology and social anthropology before she specialised through an MPhil, and she is now completing a PhD in Social Anthropology at Cambridge, where she studies Slovak bureaucratic landscapes. That range means she can meet a student wherever their interests sit and show them how the disciplines speak to one another.

She has mentored ambitious young people continuously since her first undergraduate year, and has worked as a teaching assistant both in university admissions and on introductory courses in politics, sociology and social anthropology. She knows what a strong Cambridge answer looks like from both sides of the table.

Barbara has prepared numerous international students for Oxbridge admissions and study, on timelines ranging from several years out to a short, intensive run at interview. During her time at the university she organised Experience Cambridge, the widening-access programme for high school students aiming to apply. Outside her studies she works part-time as an analyst across a range of Central and Eastern European policy think tanks and initiatives.
